  1. Step

    Cook the lentils for at least 10 minutes (longer if required).

  2. Step

    Cut the vegetables and sauté them, add spices and continue cooking for 5-10 minutes, until brown and the fat separates.

  3. Step

    Add tomatoes and broth. Continue cooking for 10 minutes.

  4. Step

    Mix in the lentils after straining the excess water and remove from heat. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes.

    Serve Dal with plain rice or Naan bread.

    Juice the lemon and use together with yoghurt to garnish the lentils
